| brent kleinheksel Tue Aug 31 08:23:22 | Hi, I am in need of some fresh caught Salmon / Coho for smoking while I am in Holland this week. I realize you can't sell it to me, but maybe you'd be willing to trade for 1/2 of the finished product? I make a wicked apple cider smoke. Call me at 612-501-2548 or email rentals@rosewoodpointe.com
I can meet you anywhere within 15 miles of Holland.
Thanks! Brent
| Ryan Devries Mon Aug 30 22:43:59 | PERCH-50 fow south of holland(castle park)
| dale verbeek Mon Aug 30 20:13:50 | I find that if you rinse the eggs they loose some scent. If they have been froze and not covered in mineral oil they are probally freezer burned. I used to use loose eggs but find skien tied in large spawn bags works best. they seem to give off more odor longer. I think it will be longer for the water to cool off than this weekend but who knows?
| ron schneider Mon Aug 30 13:24:48 | Dale, these eggs that I got I think they have allready been been rinsed I got them from my nephew who broke his heel and cant do much of anything for 3 months they have been frozen also I am pretty sure they have been rinsed will that matter much, Also I talked to a guy in Berrien Springs that runs a charter and the salmon are in the river down there. The board at the store where Harold set things up for them before being let got says the fish will be at 30 f.o.w. by the weekend

| Michael Elzinga Mon Aug 30 07:06:51 | 1 for 2 sat AM both on moonshine luer down 75ft in 130 FOW. Tough fishing it is going to get better soon.
| ron schneider Mon Aug 30 05:38:27 | Thanks Dale I will give it a whirl
| dale verbeek Sun Aug 29 20:46:44 | Tie fresh eggs in spawn bags, do not rinse
in water eggs before tying.Place eggs in small containers and fill with mineral oil.
Freeze containers untill ready to use.Eggs will last for several years and the oil has no odder or taste but will carry the egg scent in the water. I've done this for twenty years now.
| ron schneider Sun Aug 29 16:31:52 | about a year ago you posted a receipe for cured salmon spawn could you please repost?
It ended up in some sort of oil in baby food jars Thanks
| Jeff Gaul Sat Aug 28 17:37:05 | nice job Jimmy! Thanks for the post... Hopefully water will cool again... although it was nice swimming today with the family!

| Mike Ockhertz Sat Aug 28 14:09:02 | Phil looks like waters warmed again, try vanandels for some stragglers. Maybe big lake flattens try perching.
| Kort Nyland Fri Aug 27 17:37:34 | Went out yesterday morning 2 for 3, and last night 2/2, all in front of the holland pier heads on plugs all 4 landed were kings and the one lost was a steelhead. We tried this morning for 2 1/2 hours in front of the pier but it was obious with the temps that the fish probably scattered already. It sounded slow out there so we went into mac and pulled a 6lb walleye.
| Dave VanderBok Fri Aug 27 16:56:17 | fished saugy this morn 1 for 2 in 14 to 30 ft of water. both on luers.
| Henry Hofstra Fri Aug 27 16:50:43 | Sorry for the double post. I'll know next time to be patient and not hit Post Message twice.
| Henry Hofstra Fri Aug 27 16:45:25 | I also fished out of Holland, this morning (Fri). from 6:30-9:30, 70 FOW out to 145and back to 70 without a hit. It was very rough with 4 footers in my 20' boat. If you had a 30' boat, they were only 2 footers!!

| Jeffrey Busscher Fri Aug 27 14:07:09 | We were out this morning--not marking much and no action fishing 60-120 fow. Saw lots of boats fishing 120' and deeper--did anyone have any success out there?
| Kevin Essenburg Fri Aug 27 13:47:59 | 1/1 last night. Wanted to fish the piers, too warm. Went into 40' and took a king on a pearl J plug setting lines. And that was it. Marked lots of bait balls and some nice hooks at dark.
| Phil Eppard Fri Aug 27 13:44:41 | Mike Ockhertz......can you give a general vicinity where you are picking up those Lake Mac Eyes? Taking my daughter out on Sunday morning and was looking for a place to start. You could email me instead phileppard@chartermi.net I also understand if you want to keep that to yourself. thanks
| Michael Elzinga Fri Aug 27 12:12:48 | Darryl, yes we fished while a lot of boats went in, tried glow spoons and paddles etc. Worked our way back in to 60FOW, marked lots of bait but no hits.
| Kevin Lastacy Fri Aug 27 08:16:21 | Michael was right it was very quiet on the radio, I didn't even take a bump..worked that 130 as well. Good Luck to all the Gold Coast Guys! Good Luck Jimmy!
| Darryl #1 Fri Aug 27 08:04:56 | Mike, do you fish for them after dark?
| Michael Elzinga Fri Aug 27 07:44:00 | 0 for 2 last night, not much talk on the radio. 130FOW seemed the best.
| Mike Ockhertz Thu Aug 26 17:38:07 | How come my Mac Eyes look small in the picture? They don't look as good as they tasted.
| Gary Moorehead Thu Aug 26 15:05:02 | They knocked the kings pretty good in the channel in Grand haven this morning.
| Dave Altergott Thu Aug 26 07:52:18 | Any salmon showing up at the pier yet? I live on the other side of the state, or I'd be down there checking myself. I heard there starting to show up at St. Joe with quite a few Skams.
| Steve Dykstra Wed Aug 25 15:03:20 | Went perch fishing yesterday just north of Spyglass in 8-16 fow (from 4:30-7:00). Caught many small ones (3-5") but ended up with 18 ranging 8-10.5". Used spikes but the bigger ones came on cut-bait.
| jimmy vanbrocklin Tue Aug 24 21:43:34 | team jimbobber with plumb crazy on board will be fishing gold coast!
