sounds good Harold we have had a great perch fishing out of holland the last few years and I think this would be a great way to take advantage of it.

I would be willing to do a perch tourny but I have tried in the past with no luck. But I think its a great idea. How about donating the perch to the mission or something. Im not sure how that works if we have to clean them first or what but I can find out.

Start getting the word out and lets see if we can put both tournys together. Sounds like fun to me.

The annual Todd Farm cleanup will be Sat. April 17, from 8 until noon. There will be a free hot dog lunch following the cleanup. it will probably be wet and muddy so dress accordingly. Bags and pickup tongs will be provided. Take the kids and their friends for a good time and a good lunch. Meet at the Farm office at 8.

I am thinking we should organize a perch fishing tournament this summer as well.We could do three man teams with the greatest combined weight being the winner and a side pot for the biggest fish.We could pay a portion to the winner and the rest to a desired charity. It would be a great way for all of us sportsman to come together and have some fun and help people in need.

I don't think people will be on Mac for long with the current weather forcast. I'm done ice fishing, not risking it with the weather.

I've got a Mainstream Kingfish sit on top, just under 12' and 46lbs. I got it because it is fairly wide at 30" and pretty light. I like the sit on tops because you can jump right back on if you dump and don't have to worry about bailing. It's a low end boat but I have been using it on lakes, rivers and Lake M for 4-5yrs, haven't had a problem yet. I wear boot foot waders with a belt and a waterproof jacket this time of year to keep the cold water off. I also have a wetsuit but rarely use it. I am pretty careful about not going out in windy/wavy conditions on the big lake and I stay pretty close to shore. Look around the net for info about fishing kayaks, there are tons of reviews and suggestions. Get a good seat and paddle, that matters more than what kind of kayak

By the way if anyone is interested. I have a table that is 70"long by 32" wide. Its a fomica top. Its an old kitchen table with metal legs. I thought it would make a great cleaning or skinning table. If anyone is interested you may have it if you can pick it up. I hate throwing things away. Im cleaning the garage and I need it out. Let me know or call me. 616-291-2688

  Travis Dorn

Mon Mar 8 09:08:52
Nate,
Did you get drawn for a turkey permit??

  Harald Kronemeyer
Mon Mar 8 08:51:17
Hi Guys,
I've been thinking about spring fishing lately. I wonder why? lol We havent talked about an opening day tourny yet. I think it would be great to make it the Stu Dewitt memorial tournament. Im wondering what everyone thinks about it. Im willing to run one again I just enjoy it so im happy to do it. Does anyone know if there is another one out there? I knid of hate to compete with any local shops I dont want to take any busness away from them. But it always seems they never put it together. So lets get a pole going and see if its worth it. As before I think we need at least 10 2 man teams to make it worth it. It will only be $30-40 to enter. Just for fun on opening day.

let me know what everyone thinks and any shops out there let me know what your plans are as well.

Email me on my home address. kronemeyer@techgoal.com

Thanks,
Harald

Scott how long where you out there and roughly what time did you catch the fish?
  Scott Welsh
Sat Mar 6 22:21:12
Trolled the Holland pier in the kayak from 3-6, went 3-4, 2 steelhead (8lb buck, 2lb hen), 12lb laker (released). All hits within 75yds. of the pier heads, deep Jr. thunderstick in firetiger. Still too much ice on Lake Mac to get a boat out from the launches. For you pier guys, north pier has room to fish on the outer edge, but lots of people walking around out there. South pier is mostly ice, but you could fish at the southeast corner of the outer pier. Water is crystal clear

Bumper crop of boats on the K-zoo. Didn't miss that all winter. Ended up losing both steelies we hooked but did catch a nice brown.

Sat Mar 6 08:10:33
Ron : Sidedoor on M40- or outdoor fanatics on M40. Most tree tops or brush hold them at K-zoo- fish slow. Hooks and sinkers cost less than bobbers ! Got 12 yesterday no Walleye and landed 14 crappie last night with 3 Walleye, Good Luck

Sun Feb 28 22:44:13
Kevin yes the donations are high but the slabs are worth it! Just drift between the tree tops w/jig,minnow,bobber. So it's that simple!
  Kevin Essenburg
Sun Feb 28 19:28:27
What's the trick for these crappie in the K-zoo? I get fishing the tree tops, but jigs / minnows / bobber or do you just cast into the tops and reel it back?

I'm guessing like everything else on the K-zoo that tackle donations area high.....

  Scott Achterhof
Sun Feb 28 09:10:50
Willie, Thanks again for the info on the k-zoo, I had a great time down there Sat. took 7 crappies home and lost about 15 at the bank. Guess I will use a net next time! LOL!

Actually, I was saying I was sorry for posting a non-current fishing story.

Nate-> Yes I casted just in front of the the ice ledge and just let it sit out there. That also gave me time to lean back an enjoy some smoked goose breast !

  Charles Williamson

Rob right out in pigeon lake?
  Rob Purt
Thu Feb 25 15:53:13
Sorry the bike comment reminded me of a fixture my buddy had in High School ( so many moons ago)... We had basically a side cart for a bike that you could put a canoe on pedal it to the lake ! That was a pretty slick set-up for people who liked to fish in the PM river !
  Rob Purt
Thu Feb 25 14:54:49
Hunter -> Get a car or truck .. it helps. perhaps pedal a bike.

FYI: I caught two nice pike the other day by the boat launch by the power plant. I used sucker minnows under a large bobber and was casting off the rocks by the bridge into the open water. It felt good to actually cast a line!
